Danny and Tommy are both generational inshore fishermen who carry on a long heritage of fishing from Cadgwith Cove. They work the local waters, catching top quality day caught fish and shellfish, using targeted methods.
Tommy is part of a new generation of Cadgwith fishers, following in the footsteps of his great-great-grandfather. He started fishing full time when he was 18. But stepped onto the boat from a young age as soon as Danny let him. Tommy also used to fish from a punt (small boat), with some pots and nets from a very young age.
As well as catching fish, Danny and Tommy collect important data about the health of the crawfish stocks in the waters off the Lizard. They report this data to the Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority (IFCA), who use the information to develop new management strategies for the fishery. Sustainbility is an important part of their fishery.
